WHAT’S KILLAH MEGILLAH ABOUT?
KILLAH MEGILLAH, Book #4 of the Rabbi Aviva Cohen Mysteries
It’s a normal Monday for Rabbi Aviva Cohen, until a seemingly
innocuous phone call disrupts her routine life. She is asked to examine a box of
books in the attic of a long-abandoned synagogue building scheduled for
demolition. While going through the trunk full of worn-out prayer books that will
need to be buried in a Jewish cemetery, she opens a canvas bag – and finds a
human skeleton.
Never one to be content to let the experts solve a mystery, Rabbi Cohen
involves herself in helping them defrost this cold case. Who was the skeleton in
life? What was the cause of death? How – and, more importantly why – did the
bones wind up in a synagogue’s attic?
In the meantime, current events intervene: a bat mitzvah, the sudden death
and funeral of a cherished congregant, the attempt to find a bar mitzvah project
for her great nephew that he wouldn’t find “boring,” and an intervention by her mother, in cahoots with her first ex-husband’s daughters, to convince them to
remarry.
In the end, the past and present intersect to find peace for the skeleton.
